Sat 05.06; 8.30pm; £5 - Gill Manly and her band

Gill Manly is one of the most original and remarkable singers on today’s British jazz scene. She began singing at an early age, never believing that she would one day rub shoulders with the great Eartha Kitt, whilst performing in Chelsea. She also tried acting, and sang in operas and musicals. On meeting Ian Shaw in 1983, Gill became convinced that interpreting jazz standards in a new way was her true path.  This is how the jazz diva was born. Since than Gill sang and appeared on all major British jazz scenes, festivals and broadcasting studios, gaining well deserved recognition from the critics and fellow musicians. After a few years break from singing she continues to thrill audiences having played 3 sell out seasons at Ronnie Scotts in 2009 and was Time Out’s critics choice. In 2008 she recorded a critically acclaimed  album "With a Song in my Heart", which was conceived as a personal reflection on the work of Ella Fitzgerald.
